Macallan 74 Year Old The Red Collection
The Macallan 74 years old Red Collection reflects a deep respect for time, tradition, and craftsmanship. It is a celebration of the rich range of reds present naturally in The Macallan at every step of the process. However, the distinctive red color weaves its way through our history, starting with the name of our founder Alexander Reid—literally “The Red”, to The Macallan’s ‘Choice Old’ range released over a century ago in 1903, through to Allan Shiach marking vintage bottles of The Macallan with a red ribbon in the 1980s.
Distilled in the early 1940s, this expression has been carefully matured over 7 decades under the watchful eyes of generations of whisky makers at The Macallan. As there are only 100 bottles ever produced, this bottle is highly coveted by whisky connoisseurs and collectors across the globe. Macallan 74 Year Old The Red Collection
In conclusion, the nose has a wonderfully sweet and fruity combination: rich baked plum combined with orange oil and vanilla. Aromatic peat is the first thing to appear on the palate and remains throughout the taste. Finally, there’s also caramelized pear with toasted hazelnuts, moving into a rich clove and a cocoa-dusted truffle. A long, dry peat finish ensues with treacle toffee and light citrus.
